eh.

So far Moe is doing much better with Miles. Miles just annoys Moe by trying to catch his tail or whatever, then Moe swipes at him. I can't say that I blame him. Miles is a little devil-cat. As cool as it sounds to have a devil-cat, in reality it causes lots of scratches and bite marks. Don't get me wrong, we love Miles, he's our lil' muffin. But man, is he wound up! I haven't had a kitten in ten years, so I forgot how crazy they can be. He's very sweet, though. Such a little muffin.
It's going to be a strange weekend. There's been a tragedy in my family this week, so we are taking a trip to Tennessee on Sunday. No one knows why yet, but someone doused my cousin with gasoline and set him on fire. He has 3rd degree burns on over 90% of his body and has been in critical condition since Monday. He has a history of "trouble" of some sorts, but nobody deserves to be set on fire, I don't care who you are. I don't know yet if he's going to pull through or not.
Anyway, that's enough of that.

Introducing Miles

We are new parents! Ken and I decided to adopt one of the kittens that Christy rescued. And let me tell you, Moe is not amused. Poor kitty, he's very sensitive. Just like his momma. We're really hoping Moe will adjust pretty soon. We've been following instructions for cat to cat introductions that Christy had given us to try and ease his adjustment period.
But now, without further adieu... introducing Miles Jackson III!!

I'm suprised he could stay still long enough to take these. He a little firecracker.

Wish us luck with the Moe boy.

weekend

We drove to Florida to visit Ken's brother and his girlfriend this weekend. I had to wear a swim suit, which was a bit traumatizing, but I lived through it. It was fun, hotter than freaking Hades, a bit tiring, and swim-tastic.
We only had time for a few things. We went downtown for a museum visit and a picnic, then to the beach in the afternoon. I didn't take enough pictures, which is typical of me as of late.

Some museum pics...

birthday girl

Today is our niece Lydia's 3rd birthday, although her birthday party was last weekend. She seemed to enjoy her day, and her fairy princess themed party.

Scramble

We had breakfast for dinner last night, and it was a fun time. I had a pack of Soyrizo in the fridge that we haven't tried yet, so I decided to add it to a tofu scramble. The Soyrizo was a really good tasting addition to the scramble, but I didn't like having to deal with the plastic "casing" around it. It was kind of gross having to scoop the glop out of the plastic tube. I imagine it wouldn't be nearly as gross as dealing with real Chorizo, though.
Anyway, the scramble had Soyrizo, along with onions, swiss chard, garlic, and pepper. Then I fried up some red potatoes for home fries. I accidentally made them WAY too greasy. You can see the fat glistening off them in the picture. They were wicked good, though...as most food swimming in fat usually is.

After dinner Ken made some homemade soy ice cream in our ice cream maker. It was great, too. I didn't take a picture of it because the camera batteries needed recharging. :)

Let's see, what else is going on? Today is our niece's birthday party. She is three this month. It should be a pretty cute day full of toys and such. I'll have to post some pics.
